CONSTANTLY ENGAGING SINGAPOREANS SINCE 1999

The Beginning of
Ma Kuang

By modernization of traditional Chinese medicine and discriminating process, Ma Kuang is committed to promote the philosophy of TCM worldwide and hopes to help the public to “walk out” of their illnesses and enjoy a healthy lifestyle at the same time.

TCM Treatment
Clinical procedures

Clinical procedures in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) include patient assessment using methods like pulse diagnosis and tongue examination, followed by personalized treatments such as acupuncture, herbal medicine, and lifestyle recommendations. These procedures aim to address root causes of illness and restore balance for overall health.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a key component of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) involving the insertion of thin needles into specific points on the body to stimulate energy flow. It is used to alleviate pain, promote healing, and restore balance within the body's systems.

Tuina therapy

Tuina therapy is a traditional Chinese massage practice that manipulates the body's soft tissues to promote healing and balance. Using techniques like kneading and pressing on specific points, Tuina aims to regulate energy flow, relieve pain, and improve well-being.

TCM prescription

TCM prescription involves creating personalized treatment plans based on patient assessments, including symptoms and medical history. These plans may include herbal formulas, acupuncture, diet, and lifestyle modifications to address specific health concerns and restore balance within the body.

Cupping

Cupping is a traditional therapy in which cups are placed on the skin to create suction. This suction helps to stimulate blood flow, relieve muscle tension, and promote healing. It is often used in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) to treat various conditions, including pain, inflammation, and respiratory issues.

Gua sha/scrapping

Gua sha, also known as scraping therapy, is a traditional Chinese healing technique that involves using a smooth-edged tool to scrape the skin in long strokes. This process creates redness or bruising, known as "sha," which is believed to release toxins and promote circulation. Gua sha is often used to alleviate muscle pain, tension, and inflammation, as well as to improve circulation and overall well-being.

TDP Lamp

The TDP lamp, also known as the "Mineral Lamp," is a therapeutic device used in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and other alternative therapies. It emits infrared radiation and a mineral plate, providing pain relief and relaxation, particularly for musculoskeletal conditions and arthritis.

Traditional Chinese Herbal Medicine

Traditional Chinese herbal medicine uses medicinal herbs to treat various health conditions by restoring balance within the body based on TCM principles. Herbal formulas are tailored to each individual's constitution and condition, providing natural remedies for promoting health and well-being.

TCM Services
Adults

With a long history of 5000 years, TCM has accumulated a wealth of experience and wisdom. It has become many people’s choice for health care. At Ma Kuang, we provide TCM services to adult patients. TCM has developed its unique strengths and advantages in treating various diseases. Here are some common conditions we treat in adults.

Women

Our practitioners tailor treatments to address the root cause of your specific needs, considering both disease and menstrual cycles. By combining TCM with modern medicine, we effectively treat gynecological issues like fibroids, cysts, and infertility. We offer comprehensive women's healthcare, focusing on both wellness and treatment.

Children

TCM offers safe, painless treatments to relieve symptoms and boost immunity in children. Their unique needs are considered when creating personalized plans for common issues.

TCM Orthopedics
TCM Orthopedics can treat dermal, musculoskeletal, vascular, visceral and meridional injuries caused by external forces, such as slip and fall, sport injury, etc. The conditions can be divided in two main categories—acute and chronic injuries.
Weight Management

The advantage of choosing TCM for weight management is personalized care plan. The treatments allow the body to restore homeostasis, metabolize excessive fat, remove edema, and restore health. It can be done by acupuncture, TuiNa, herbal medicine, or ear acupuncture.

Pain Management
Pain is one of the most common complaints. It signals danger and alerts us that something needs to be done immediately to avoid damage.
TCM Aftercare
Yellow Emperor’s Inner Cannon states that the best physician provides preventive care; the mediocre catches illness at its start; the worse treats diseases. TCM emphasizes preventive care. Not only does it take the whole person into consideration, it also analyzes many other environmental and social factors, such as weather, emotion and sleep-wake cycle. It strives to facilitate one’s optimal health

Went for tuina for my lower back problem. The shifu was spot on the acupoint and the force applied was just nice. Would recommend her to those coming to Toa Payoh TCM at Ma Kwang. Btw her name is Liu Huan Chun

I have been a long term supporter of Makuang in view of their professional service by the management and tui na specialists across all their outlets. Sincere and has good tuina skills. I love their medicated patch as it works super well, better than Salon Pas. Highly recommend their products and tui na! Toa payoh Tuina outlet has very good service by receptionist and wang dan tuina master. For their TCM Treatments such as Acupunture, dont quite recommend as i had less than ideal experience before. But it is subjective i guess.

Just want to caution anybody who tries acupuncture. This happened to me, swelling and bruising for a week, after a needle was pulled out, and it does hurt, and still on progress. Probably mistakes can happen, by Dr Zhang, who treated me. I showed it to her when it happened, and she simply pushed the swelling down and said it'll go away. Not sure it was the answer I expected.Again, the acupuncture has helped me in my past ailments, WITHOUT INCIDENTS but this time it wasn't pleasant.Treatment here is expensive, and patients deserve the best experience possible for that price.I hope management will evaluate this. Try to do better, as Dr Zhang was in a rush and kinda panicked that day. It affected her work.
